Sad news from Ellen
« on: November 11, 2004, 07:35:44 AM »

Ding has long been a part of Ellen's life and her posts. Ding, for anyone that doesn't know, is Ellen's cat and is very ill and I don't think the prognosis is good. For those of us that live alone, our pets are just an enormous part of our lives and it is so, so hard when they are sick. Keep them both in your thoughts please.

Thanks for that Di. We'll send some good thoughts Ding's way.

Thanks For this post, Diana! So far, Ding as been doing well. She has her good days and her "down" days, but she's comfortable and eats well. The cancerous growths haven't increased in size yet and there's no evidence of their spreading, but time will tell.

Thanks to all for keeping us in their thoughts and prayers. It's definately helping. Ellen & Ding

Oh, this is so sad to read now after Diana's recent passing. I hadn't read the messages in here before, and it never occurred to me that Diana had thought enough of us to do this!

Would that Diana, too, had received the same miracle that little Dinghy cat did back during 2004/2005. Ding's seeming breast cancer was a false alarm, and there was no sign of it at a follow-up exam some months later.

However, now Ding is in renal failure. At 15 years of feline age it is no surprise. She is doing comfortably so far and we are administering re-hydration therapy to her 3 or 4 times a week.

How I wish that Diana were still here with us!!  E&D

The best to you and Dinghy cat today, Ellen.

We have three cats in this household, none of them belong to me.  There is Teashzmo, a big white male, semi-longhaired cat, Toonces, a male that looks a lot like "Toonces, the Driving Cat," and Otis, the black and white male "cow cat."

It is a bright and sunny morning here in Dallas.  I think it is going to be hot, hot today.

Hello to you, Kat! I'm still working at learning the WP Forum "ropes" here, so bear with me. Somebody in your household has a creative knack for naming cats! My neighbor, Sherrie, sure needs a lesson from your cat "namer!" She has an odd assortment of cats in both coloring and personality~just begging for something more distinctive than their "Star," "Patch," "Sam," and, well, finally there IS "Champagne!"

I felt such empathy for you reading your post in the WP about your aunt and uncle. The last one of the senior generation in my Father's family died several years ago, and  your post recalled all my sadness at "closing the chapter" on that flambouyantly fascinating family.

Todays been a welcome change from our recent heat wave here in Portland. Our high was 70 something and it's been raining, very gently and sporadically most of the day. E&D

"Teashzmo" is an unbelieveable name.  I would not think there is another "Teashzmo" in the world.

That one began when my daughter and son-in-law ordered something through the mail.  "Teashzmo" is a really bad spelling of their last name that somebody at the company from whom they were ordering came up with.  That is who the order was sent to.  Fortunately there was a good address with it.

My son-in-law and daughter thought that new name was so interesting/funny, that they named the white kitten "Teashzmo."  Why waste a good name, huh.  ;-).

Haha, my daughter gets after me when I don't pronounce the "shz" in the cat's name.  I used to call him "Tease-mo."

Yes, my aunt and uncle are the last of that generation.  It is kind of scary that WE are closely getting to be the oldsters now.

I am glad to hear that you are having a little more like Oregon type weather now.  We seem to be sliding into our regular summertime HOT pattern.  Air conditioning is mandatory here at this time of the year.

We really do need to get the smart guys who know stuff, on the stick here, so we can use all this solar energy for electricity to cool us.

My wife Roxy's brother and his wife babysit their 2 year old granddaughter all of the time. Back during the early spring we were adopted by a beautiful little silver tabby female. She was maybe 7 or 8 months old at the time. Well naturally she immediately became pregnant. So come the 2nd of may she gives birth to 5 little silver tabby kittens. More on that whole saga can be found here:

http://zboxhosting.com/board/index.php/topic,556.0.html

Anyway, earlier this month it was time to find homes for the kittens. One went to my brother in law. The little was going to become their granddaughters cat. When asked what she wanted to name him she replied, "Pink!". Well I talked them into revising that. His name is now "Mr. Pink!" I imagine they will probably wind up calling him Pinky for short. I don't think there are too many tom's in the world with that name LOL!

That is a neat story about Gypsy and her kitties.  I am so glad it ended well.  You did have us afraid for her there for a while.
