I have some mashed potato dumpling recipes back in my old Webby.  Do you still want some?

I haven't tried them and wouldn't guarantee they would please, but they are there.

Hi,
I would certainly be interested in your recipes.  My Mother and Grandmother made their dumplings from Mashed Potatoes but I neglected to get their recipes B/4 they passed.   Thanks for the offer,   Jeanne

I don't know if these are what you have in mind, but they sound tasty.

mashed potato dumplings

1 cup Cold Mashed Potatoes

1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour

1 Egg

Salt and Pepper (to taste)

In a bowl, mix all the ingredients; until it forms a stiff dough.

Roll out dough on a floured board (as thick or as thin as you like). Cut into about 2-inch squares. They're that simple.

To cook these dumplings you have a couple of choices.

1- You can drop them into boiling salted water. Cover and simmer for about 10 minutes. Drain and serve with your favorite sauce as a main course. Or
2 - Drop them into boiling stew or soup. (approximately 2 quarts of stew or soup) Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. These are a great added bonus to any soup.

Well, I hope one of those gives you the old, familiar results.

There are a few things my mother made that unfortunately, I'm afraid will never be duplicated.  For one thing, she is the only person I know of who could make liver and onions delicious.  (Ha, a lot of people wouldn't believe delicious liver and onions, probably.)

Just wanted to let you know, I tried your recipe for the dumplings.  They were great.  Instead of putting them in boiling water, I steamed them.  Many Thanks again for the recipe.      Jeanne

Glad to hear your dumplings turned out well!  I may well have to try that one myself.  My daughter is the cook around here.  I asked her if she had heard of mashed potato dumplings.  Nope, she said.  Maybe I can talk her into trying them.

But she says not if they are like potato bread.  Ha.  Dunno if they are like potato bread, but I think potato bread is okay, myself.

There was a donut shop at Dodge City, KS, when I was growing up that made donuts out of potatoes.  It was called the SpudNut shop.  And they were at least as good as Krispy Kremes.

There is a recipe on one of the sites I posted above for potato fudge.  I can't imagine that one.

Hi Kat,
Just had to let you know your recipe for dumplings is a big hit at our house.  I made them again the other day and none were left.  If you lived a little closer, you could come here the next time I make them.  Thanks again for the recipe..............Jeanne

Very good!  I guess I will have to lean a little more on the cook here to see if she would be interested in fixing some of those.

We are glad everyone at your house enjoyed them.
